Basic Handgun

Basic Handgun

Gain immediate and very useful knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely and effectively. Enjoy a 4-hour in-depth session with both classroom and range time. You will learn to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, gain an understanding of the rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, and a variety of shooting tips and techniques designed to increase the quality of your experience and the level of your skill.

4 HOURS

Course requirements:

  • Handgun in good working condition if you have one, if not you can rent one.
  • 100 rounds of ammunition.
  • Magazine (if bringing own pistol).
  • Comfortable clothing.
  • Ear and eye protection (If you don’t have these items you can rent them)

Intro to Handgun for Women

Intro to Handgun for Women

This is an introductory handgun course specifically designed for women that will provide an overview of firearms safety, and is perfect for a first-time owner or new shooter. This course is a great way for women who are new to handguns, just want a refresher, or desire an understanding of the fundamentals to develop their skills in a safe environment.

4 HOURS

Course requirements:

  • Handgun in good working condition if you have one, if not you can rent one.
  • 50 rounds of ammunition.
  • Magazine (if bringing own pistol).
  • Comfortable clothing.
  • Ear and eye protection (If you don’t have these items you can rent them)

Intermediate Handgun

Intermediate Handgun

The course is for the student that is already familiar with everything taught in an entry level class. The student will probably not have mastered everything, but should not need much explanation as to terminology or good firearms handling skills. This class is about repetition.

It gives the you a chance to polish up your skills before moving to the next step.

In this course, you will be drawing and shooting from the holster.

This is not a beginner class.

A 6-hour course

Ammunition Requirement:  200 Rounds.

Prerequisite: Initial CCW Class or other formalized training  

Course requirements: All equipment is mandatory for class.

  • Handgun in good working condition.
  • Recommend 300 rounds of good quality ammo.
  • Eye and ear protection.
  • At least 2 magazines* or speed loaders needed for this class.
  • Magazine holder or speed loader holder
  • Strong side hip holster, holster must allow for one-hand re-holstering… no floppy nylon.
  • Holsters must completely cover the trigger!
  • T shirt with tight collar prevents hot brass down your shirt… A hat would be good too.

Advance Handgun

Advance Handgun

You’ll learn drawing techniques, malfunction clearing, one hand shooting, including reloading and malfunction clearing. Proper reloads, shooting on the move, proper use of cover and precision shooting. By the end of this class you will have more confidence in your ability with your gun.

AR Intro

AR Intro

This course is designed for new shooters to be introduced to the AR platform.  Students will learn basic operation, modification, and clean their firearm safely. Students will also learn the shooting fundamentals in a safe and comfortable environment that builds confidence and brings out the marksman in you.

4 HOURS

Course requirements:

  • CA compliant AR/M4 style rifle or carbine with sights or optics
  • 150 rounds and 2 magazines.
  • Cleaning kit/lubricant
  • Electronic hearing protection and eye protection.
  • Water and snacks
  • Firearms may be rented from the gun shop prior to class, first come first served.

Must have all required items prior to start of the class

AR Skill Builder 1

AR Skill Builder 1

The AR 1 class is built for shooters with some experience but who may be new to the AR-15 platform.  Students will run through a series of drills to familiarize themselves with maintaining accuracy without sacrificing speed. This course will include a review of safe handling, shooting stance, proper sighting, various shooting positions, immediate and remedial actions. Participants will spend more time in the range and less time in the classroom in order to become more comfortable with their firearm.

4 HOURS

Course requirements:

  • CA compliant AR/M4 style rifle, Mini-14, or AK platform with sights or optics.
  • 260 rounds, 2 magazines.
  • Electronic ear protection and eye protection.
  • Cleaning kit/lubricant
  • Knee pads recommended.
  • Prerequisite: Completion of “AR Intro” or case-by-case exception.

Must have all required items prior to start of the class

AR Skill Builder 2 (Defensive Shooting)

AR Skill Builder 2 (Defensive Shooting)

This course is designed to advance skills learned in previous classes and introduce basic movement while shooting as well as transition to a back up weapon. Participants will be briefed on weapon and range safety, tactical carries in the classroom before heading into the range where we will practice skills like “support hand” shooting, timed firing and reloading, immediate and remedial actions, shooting on the move, and transitioning between multiple firearms. At the end of the class there will be an evaluation for advancement to the next course.

4 HOURS

Course requirements:

  • CA legal AR/M4, Mini-14, or similar style rifle or carbine with 2 or 3 point sling.
  • Pistol with holster (minimum caliber 9mm)
  • 300 rifle rounds
  • 100 pistol rounds
  • 2 magazines for each firearm (minimum).
  • Electronic ear protection and eye protection.
  • Long Pants
  • Knee pads

Prerequisite: Successful completion of “AR Skill Builder 1.” or case-by-case exception.

Must have all required items prior to start of the class

AR Skill Builder 3 (Tactical Shooting)

AR Skill Builder 3 (Tactical Shooting)

Participants in this range-intensive class will continue to refine defensive/combat shooting techniques.  Topics covered will include engagements from various shooting positions, shooting from concealment, tactical reloads, emergency reloads, timed reloading and engagements, malfunctions, shooting while moving, engaging multiple targets, utilizing cover, and transitioning from rifle to sidearm safely and effectively.  This course is adapted from the Marine Corps Combat Shooting program.

4 HOURS

Course requirements:

  • CA legal AR/M4, Mini-14, or similar style rifle or carbine with 2 or 3 point sling.
  • 350 rifle rounds
  • 4 magazines for each firearm (minimum).
  • Bullet button tool
  • Electronic ear protection and eye protection
  • 2 snap caps (minimum)
  • Long Pants
  • Knee pads

Prerequisite: Successful completion of “AR Skill Builder 2.” or case-by-case exception.

Advanced CCW

Advanced CCW

This course starts where the basic Concealed Carry course leaves off. After a review of firearms safety rules and basic handgun skills, this training focuses on the basic skills required to effectively use a handgun for self-defense. The course teaches you concealed carry techniques with topics that include drawing and shooting from the holster, weapons handling skills, malfunction clearances, emergency reloads, tactical reloads, support hand shooting, practice drills, the use of cover and concealment, target identification and multiple target prioritization. This course covers a variety of drills designed to develop basic gun-handling and marksmanship skills, helping you get shots on target more quickly.

Prerequisite: Advance Handgun. This course is not designed to teach first-time shooters how to shoot. You must already have had some type of training, and possess solid, safe gun handling and shooting skills.

8 HOURS

Course requirements:

  • Handgun in good working condition.
  • 300 rounds of ammunition.
  • Holster.
  • (2) Magazines or speed loaders.
  • Magazine or speed loader holder.
  • Shirt or jacket to be used for concealing handgun.
  • Ear and eye protection.
  • Belt, inside the waistband or outside holsters are acceptable. No shoulder or cross-draw holsters, fanny packs, ankle holsters. Holster must allow for one-hand re-holstering… no floppy nylon. Holsters must completely cover the trigger!

CCW NEXT STEP

CCW NEXT STEP

This course is designed for current CCW holders who would like to improve their firearms skills Major areas of emphasis are in personal protection and defensive shooting techniques, shooting from and around barriers while engaging multiple targets. Learn the importance of defensive shooting, situational awareness, verbal de-escalation, avoidance, loopholes and posturing, so you, not your attacker will control the outcome. You will participate in situations that were not covered in your concealed carry class. Carrying a handgun concealed is a major responsibility and requires mastering techniques for safe handling and rapid deployment. This “Next Step,” training provides you with insight and the “hands on,” practical application that is missing from the standard CCW curriculum.

8 HOURS

Requirements for all classes:

  • Eye and ear protection required (rentals available).
  • Please bring your own firearm or rent one at the range. Ammo is always available on-site as well.
  • The range fee is included with the price of the class.
  • No floppy nylon holsters allowed in qualifications or training classes.
  • All Training Attendance Applications need to be turned in 2 weeks before class.
  • Payment for all classes must be received at least two weeks prior to class.
Kendall Jones

Kendall Jones

A 30-year veteran of the California Department of Corrections who served as the Primary Rangemaster and Armory Officer for over 20 years, specializing in firearms, chemical agents, batons and use of deadly force training. Kendall also received the Peace Officers’ Standards and Training Firearms Instructor (POST) Certification in 1997 and continued training through the National Rifle Association (NRA), the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center and various other training courses. His primary focus has been on firearms, self-defense, safety and gun care who has trained thousands of Peace Officers and private citizens in the use of handguns, rifles, shotguns, less-lethal options (pepper spray) and the use of deadly force.  He has received specialized training in tactical handguns, rifles and shotguns and continues to expand his knowledge base by attending firearms instructor courses ensuring that he remains current and up-to-date on any new changes or techniques in his areas of expertise.
